Studio Class Types:
Discovery Dance - This is a class intended for our younger dancers. Class time is spent learning basic movement skills and enhancing rhythm and coordination while we work on learning to follow directions and pay attention. This class will also open our dancers up to creative expression and movement through games and imagination activities to expand their individuality.
Jazz - This class will lay the foundation for correct, safe, and successful dancing in years to follow. Instructors foster an appreciation of dance through a class routine or warm-ups, stretches, technical development, and across the floor combinations and footwork. We will also focus on dance terminology and dance class etiquette.
Tap - This is a dance style that requires special dance shoes with metal taps on the sole of the shoe. Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique producing clear tap sounds and having fun.
Musical Theatre - A stylized dance genre that has no limits or technical boundaries. This class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring various iconic dance styles used in Broadway shows. Emphasis will also be placed on learning story telling through acting, emotions, and facial expressions.
Ballet - This style of dance is the foundation of dance; a classical dance style with a codified set of techniques, French terminology, and variations. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations.
Hip Hop - Hip Hop is an urban style of dance that is high-energy that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to have strength and stamina to successfully participate in the exercises and combinations.
